Halfway River First Nation (Staff Accommodations)

About The Project:

Size: 6-Plex Staff Accommodations, 6,776 sq ft

Modules: 12 modules

Timeline: Manufacturing start Q4, 2016; installation Q2 2017

Overview:

The project included: the design, manufacture, transport, set and install of a 6,776 sq ft staff accommodations building.  The structure will consist of six 2-bedroom units, set on an ICF foundation with a concrete floor inside the crawl space.  Foundation work began in late October 2016 and the project will be turned over to the client in Q2 2017.

The Methodology for this build used Horizon North’s modular construction practices, with the modules being manufactured concurrently with the site civil work. Once the modules are completed in the factory, they are transported to site in succession, allowing the installation team to systematically crane each module into place on the foundation. As requested by this client, a pitched roof will then be built on-site by the Horizon North site works team and placed onto the structure.

The contract was signed in September 2016 to construct one 6-plex accommodation unit. Once the project was awarded, the client cleared the site and turned over a foundation ready for Horizon North to install the building on. The foundation was completed in October 2016, with the craning and installation of the modules set for Q1 2017 (including the site-built roof.) The completed project will be turned over to the client in Q2 2017.
