Rocky Pointe condo development launches sales

Rocky Pointe Condos is the newest housing development being constructed in Golden and promises to raise the bar on the Golden lifestyle.
Developed by Develeco, planning for the development was a six to ten month process before breaking ground last August. Construction has gone well and they are now 50 per cent through construction. They expect to be completed by July or August, 2018.
“It’s a high end, brand new development so we’re seeing people who have been looking in Golden for housing and nothing being available in their price point,” Soomal said. “This development at $265,000 and $270,000 is perfect and everything is high end.”
The official sales launch happened on December 20. Soomal said the event was a big success with a lot of interested buyers. During the first two weeks of sales, four condos were sold and Soomal expects to have six sold by the end of the month.
Soomal says judging from the event, there is a big variety in the demographic of potential buyers. The development will have 15, two-bedroom suites and three, one-bedroom suites in each building and will range in price from $219,000 to $275,000. With low cost and high end quality, the demographic is expected to include small families, those looking to purchase homes for the first time, and older couples looking to downsize.
Additionally, Soomal says they expect to see people from out of town buying weekend vacation homes to use during ski and other recreational seasons. As Canmore becomes increasingly expensive to live or purchase a second home, Soomal expects vacationers to trickle down to Golden.
As these are condos, buying will be the only option with no rentals available.
Born and raised in Golden, Soomal says Golden is home and he is happy for the opportunity to take part in a project that will improve the community.
“I’m most excited to be a part of a development of this caliber in our community which is experiencing a huge housing shortage and a lack of good quality inventory,” Soomal said. “To build something in a community that we live in and will continue to live in for a long time. It’s nice to be building something that we’ll be proud of.”
